    This capstone course provides a summative learning experience that is a culmination of a student's geospatial education. Students apply their knowledge and skills to develop, implement, and evaluate a geospatial project that simulates a workplace environment, including collaboration as part of a team when appropriate. Students and the instructor develop a set of measurable Capstone Learning Outcomes (CLOs) that will be used to evaluate performance and competence to complete a geospatial project from start to finish.     An introduction to a variety of methods and skills used by geoscientists, including geoinformation litteracy, written-oral-visual communication, and basic statistical/data analysis skills, that will be used and further developed in upper-division courses.     The study of the ocean as a framework for understanding the climate system. Topics include plate tectonics, the origin of ocean basins, the climate system, atmosphere-ocean interactions and feedbacks, ocean circulation, nearshore processes, geochemical cycling, biological productivity and marine ecosystems, and anthropogenic impacts to the marine environment (including climate change and marine pollution).
