Description:
Students are placed in a public school K-3 classroom to teach a minimum of 60 contract days. The focus is to meet expectations of the Utah Effective Teaching Standards (UETS) and the NAEYC Professional Standards and Competencies for Early Childhood Educators. During student teaching, students steadily increase their leadership in classroom responsibilities including curriculum development in math, science, language arts, and social studies; classroom design; child guidance; assessment; family involvement; health and safety; and the development of a professional role in the public school early childhood classroom. Supervision is provided by university supervisors and field-based professionals to support mastery of knowledge, skills, and dispositions required for Utah Educator License in Early Childhood Education (Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 3).
