Music is the heart and soul of film! Film scores can animate, enhance, enliven, magnify, and transcend movies. Movie music is a young genre compared to its predecessors like opera, ballet, and theatre music. Film music is less than 100 years old. In spite of its short history, movie music continues to have a global impact.In this course, students will develop a greater appreciation and enjoyment of movies by understanding the artistical merit and compositional skill associated with movie music. Students will engage in the study of the aesthetic and technical practices of movie music and the enriching and expressive power music brings to film.
