INFO 3000 - Information and Society: Mis- and Disinformation in the Digital Age

Institution:
Southern Utah University
Subject:
Information & Society
Description:
The statement "we are drowning in information but starved for knowledge" highlights a modern paradox: despite unprecedented access to information, our ability to analyze and use it has not kept pace with the speed at which it is created. This course will introduce students to strategies for effective information use. We will investigate mis- and disinformation, how it spreads, and how to fact-check claims made on social media. Students will also get a chance to strengthen their critical thinking skills as well as discuss the transformative role of AI in our information society.
