Music Theory involves the study of the elements and structures of music and how they interact. Music Theory IV explores techniques, ideas, and experiments in music throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Analyze centric post-tonal music from the early twentieth century, including features such as diatonic modes, non-diatonic scales, extended- and non-tertian harmonies, and polytonality. 2. Use basic pitch class set analysis to analyze post-tonal music. 3. Analyze and compose music using simple serial techniques. 4.
